Grub Screw stuck in Kitchen Tap Handle

Grub Screw stuck in Kitchen Tap Handle

The correct way to remove a grub screw is by fitting the correct size allen key.  It depends on the Kitchen Tap model as to which size allen key you need, and you can buy here.

Sometimes, even using the correct sized allen key, you might still have difficulty removing the screw.

If your grub screw is spinning and won’t come out, here’s what you can try:

  1. Use Pliers or Vice Grips: Clamp onto the screw to get more grip and turn it.
  2. Apply Penetrating Oil: Spray some oil (like WD-40) and let it sit for a few minutes to loosen it.
  3. Leverage with a Flathead: If the screw is recessed, use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry it loose.
  4. Drill It Out: If all else fails, you may need to drill out the screw. If that doesn’t work, you’ll likely need to replace the handle.  You can find all the Kitchen Tap Handles we supply here (but please read this blog here before you buy a new Handle).
  5. Tap with a Hammer: Gently tap the screw to break any corrosion or rust.

If the screw can’t be removed or if the handle is too damaged, replacing the handle might be your only option. We sell kitchen tap handles for top UK brands, so Contact us if you need a replacement as we can advise you on the correct Tap Handle before you buy!
