Description
Howdens Garda Chrome Tap3521 Valve
In some very rare instances we have come across an old Garda Tap with 20 spline valve / 50mm tall , stamped San Marco Valve. You can remove your own handle and check the splines before ordering to eliminate ordering the wrong valve. In 99% of the Garda, it is the 28 spline valve. There are images below showing the 20 spline and the 28 splines. If you need to order the 20 spline valve, this is old 1212R Valve and you can order this here.
Nut Height: 8, Splines: 28, Overall height: 53mm, Diameter at thread: 21mm
As this Tap was modified over the years, we supply the original white sealed valve version as this covers all modifications. The Hot Valve opens clockwise and the Cold Valve opens anticlockwise.
Useful Tip
It can be a common enough problem that when you remove your Valve it looks different than the valve in the picture. It is most likely because the brass bush is still attached.
For tips on how to separate a Valve from a Brass Bush, see here.
If the Valve is stuck inside the Brass Bush then you will have to separate them OR buy a Brass Bush as well

Peter Dean –
Have just purchased the 3521 Valve. Firstly it took a purchase of a socket set to unscrew the old one. Unfortunately the NEW VALUE is longer! the Nut being almost twice the thickness. Hence after tighten the New value and replacing the end Chrome attachment there is around a5mm gap.

Hi Peter
i would need to see a picture of your own tap to see what tap you actually have because the 3521r tap does take a 53mm tall valve. Also can you please email me pictures of the part that was in your own tap as well.
