BREXIT

Brexit General  (Published 01.01.2021)

From January 1, 2021, there are new rules and regulations affecting the import and export of goods to / from EU and Great Britain.

Our Brexit Mission Statement: No hidden / additional costs.

It is our intention that Brexit will have no financial impact on our Customers (whether Trade or Non-Trade) and we have structured our shipping route, choice of courier, and Vat treatment to ensure that this is the case.  In other words, you will not have to pay any additonal costs on receipt of the goods.

Taps and Sinks Online Limited ships from the Republic of Ireland. Under new Brexit rules, for any exports of goods from the Republic of Ireland to Great Britain, the Exporter i.e Taps and Sinks Online Limited will pay any VAT on Imports due to HMRC.
By Great Britain, we mean the United Kingdom excluding Northern Ireland.

Under new Brexit rules, for any exports of goods from the Republic of Ireland to Great Britain, the Exporter i.e Taps and Sinks Online Limited will pay any VAT on Imports due to HMRC.

You the customer, will not have any additional costs by purchasing from us so it will be the same as if purchasing from a Company based in the United Kingdom.

There will be no duties/tariffs or hidden costs.

VAT and Trade Customers : All products that you purchase from us, and shipping, are being charged at the standard Vat rate applicable. You can claim back the VAT on any transaction with us by emailing us for a Vat Invoice.

For Consumers i.e. Non-Trade Customer, Brexit has no effect.

By consumer, we mean someone that is not registered for VAT for Trade purposes e.g. someone purchasing from us for their personal use.

If you are a Consumer, i.e a Non-Trade Customer, then Brexit will have no effect on your order.

  • Prior to Brexit, if you paid for a valve for £14 plus shipping £4.50, total cost £18.50, while VAT was included in this transaction, you could not reclaim it.
  • Post Brexit, this situation remains the same.

Shipping times & Brexit : The only possible impact might be actual shipping times as there could be delays due to the overall shipping times of all goods going through customs checks and borders as all countries get used to the new Brexit rules.

For Trade Customers in ROI Brexit has no effect

Trade Customer : We mean someone that is registered for VAT for Trade purposes e.g. someone purchasing from us for a customer of theirs e.g Plumber, Maintenance Contractor i.e. not for their personal use.

ROI : We mean an order that is shipped to an address within the Republic of Ireland.

VAT is included in the value of the Order at the ROI rate of VAT (Currently 21%) and can be reclaimed from the Revenue. Please email us if you require a Vat invoice for your Vat 3 Return.

For Trade Customers in NI Brexit has no effect

Trade Customer : We mean someone that is registered for VAT for Trade purposes e.g. someone purchasing from us for a customer of theirs e.g Plumber, Maintenance Contractor i.e. not for their personal use.

NI : We mean an order that is shipped to an address within Northern Ireland.

We are verifying which Revenue NI Customers can claim back VAT from , ROI rate of VAT is 21% & HMRC VAT is 20% (but it can be claimed back).  Please email us if you require a Vat invoice for your Vat Return.

For Trade Customers in England, Scotland & Wales : You can reclaim Vat on any transaction with us.

Trade Customer : We mean someone that is registered for VAT for Trade purposes e.g. someone purchasing from us for a customer of theirs e.g Plumber, Maintenance Contractor i.e. not for their personal use.

Pre-Brexit : Claim using our Irish Vat Registered Number.  Prior to 01.01.2021 any UK Trade customer emailed us for a Vat invoice, or used our Order email to reclaim VAT from HMRC.  This still applies for any Orders pre 01.01.2021 i.e you will use a Vat Invoice with our Irish Vat Registered Number.

Post-Brexit : Claim using our HMRC Vat Registered Number.  We applied in 2020 for a UK Vat Registration number . Due to a backlog in HMRC this has yet to be given to us, but once we have our UK Vat Registered Number, then we can issue you with a Vat Invoice (from January 1st 2021).

All you have do is email us quoting the Order Number,  and we will then send the Vat Invoice to you with our HMRC number as soon as we have it.  You can apply for VAT Refund at any time.

Shipping to non-mainland Britain (other than NI) e.g. Channel Islands, Isle of Man etc.

As we are currently unclear as to the rules surrounding the shipping to the Channel Islands and other Isles , we have currently suspended shipping to these destinations.

Our UK Vat Number

Taps and Sinks Online Limited ROI registered VAT number is IE 9828452H
Taps and Sinks Online Limited has applied to the UK Revenue (HMRC) for a UK Vat registered number.

We have been notified by HMRC that we will be issued with this number in due course (February 2021 ) as there is currently a backlog in HMRC Customs / VAT processing applications. This does not affect you as explained.

If you require clarification on anything :

As always, you can email us about anything to sales@tapsandsinksonline.co.uk and we will respond ASAP.
