Carron Phoenix Henley Tap Valve.
Before removing your old valve please check which one you have, and use the correct tool as otherwise you might destroy the valve and make it impossible to remove. The Tool 4013R is only of use if you have the older 3308R valve in your tap. It is of NO use if you have the later valve 3794R . More information regarding removing the valve below
The current Carron Phoenix Henley Tap Valve is a six sided valve SP3794.
Your installation guide might specify the 3308R (which has two flat sides on the nut.
COLD VALVE 3308R-C
HOT VALVE 3308R-H
This Tap Valve 3308R has been discontinued but the new SP3794 is the replacement
Hot valve SP3794-H
Cold valve SP3794-C
and this is a change by the manufacturer of the Carron Phoenix Henley Tap.
Whichever Valve is in your own tap, you will receive the 3794R.
No Brass Bush is required with this Tap Valve.
The only issue to be aware of is that the earlier 3308R is more difficult to remove. See below.
Diameter at thread: 20mm,
Nut Height: 9mm
Please Note: Some customers find it difficult to remove the earlier 3308 Valve (133.0150.219 Cold /130.0120.220 Hot) which has 2 flat sides on the nut. You can try a mechanics long socket and ratchet tool to remove the Valve from this Tap OR We have a specially designed SP3308 Valve Removal Tool from the Tap Manufacturer to remove it here.
The newer version of this valve has 6 sides on the nut so is easier to deal with. A 14mm Hex Key can remove this one if you are having difficulty with it.
The Hot and Cold Valve are not interchangeable as one opens clockwise and the other opens anti-clockwise.
Replace if your Tap is dripping from the Spout. Here is our Guide: 7 easy steps to replace Kitchen Tap Valve.
Recently we have noticed that the new valve is a little stiffer to push the handle onto. We have reported this back to the manufacturer but they assure us that there have been no changes of any consequence and it is just to do with the tolerance on the machining of the valves. If this does occur we would simply recommend ensuring that your own handle is clear inside of any residual debris and that you push the handle on and off the new valve a few times to loosen the splines slightly. You won’t damage your handle.
Tightening your valve: We would also recommend that you do NOT over-tighten this valve. As a rule of thumb, tighten as far as physically possible by hand, and then tighten 1/4 turn with an adjustable spanner.
