Genuine Howdens Hi-Tech Chrome Tap3407 Valve

There are several versions of this tap – some with 20 spline valves, some with 24 splines and this Tap3407 with 28 splines.

If you are sure that you have the Hi-Tech model e.g. have documentation, then skip down to the advice about which 28 spline valve to order depending on age of your own tap.

The handle is distinctive i.e. the top of each handle looks like a wing detail. Other ‘similar’ handles with 20 splines have a different handle. This is a subtle difference and one that would not be instantly apparent to someone unused to looking at various Tap models.

If your Tap Valve looks like the 3547R 28 Spline Valve here below (but read all the information please before ordering in case you need to order the two threaded 4276R version of this Valve) :

3547R valve inside 3408R Bush

If you have the Hi-Tech Tap which has a 28 spline valve:
Please note that the original 3547R Valve has been discontinued and the replacement 3547R has a flatter seal (from 2015 onwards).
Where your Valve is stamped 2014 or earlier: Please select the Valve 4276R, which is a two threaded Valve and while it might look different than your own one threaded valve, it is the Valve that you need because it has a larger white seal underneath and will work the same as the discontinued valve that is in your Tap.
Where your Valve is stamped 2015 or later: You can select either the 4276R with two threads (which comes with the larger white seal) OR the 3547R one threaded valve which is the same valve that is in your Tap. We are the only stockists of the Genuine coded 4276R valve. Any other website offering a valve suitable, it is only a ‘compatible’ valve and is not the genuine 4276R (which is specifically designed internally for taps such as this).

Please note that rarely, a customer, when fitting the 4276R valve with white seal underneath, reports a slight gap between handle and body of the tap. This is due to the larger white seal. This seal will flatten with use. If you wish to buy the 3547R and your tap continues to drip, we will not replace under 1 year warranty if your Tap is 2014 or older. Please retain your old valve as proof of age of your own Tap. The valve will have a date stamped on it.

Sometimes the bush can be stuck to the valve. The 3408R bush is 36mm diameter. One Bush per Valve. The smaller bush 3409R is only 30mm in diameter. You can check your own before ordering if not sure.

To maintain your warranty and the longevity of your Tap you should replace any parts with only Genuine Spare Parts. "Genuine" means that it is coming from the manufacturer of your own Tap. You might see the word 'Compatible' used on other websites. You might even see same Part Code BUT "Compatible" means that it does NOT come from your own Tap manufacturer. Genuine Tap Parts means that the Parts have been tried and tested in your Tap model. It also guarantees that it will fit your own Tap correctly (provided that you have selected the correct replacement Part). We have had customers who fitted compatible parts in their taps and damaged other connecting parts in the process. It can work out more costly in the end to use Compatible parts.
