Replacing O Rings on Valves is not a good idea

Replacing O Rings on Valves is not a good idea
even if it initally seems like the quick and cheap solution. This occasionally comes up where a customer contacts us to say that having fitted new rubber o rings to their existing valves, the drip is still there.

We never supply the O Rings as a separate part for a Kitchen Tap Valve and we have been supplying Kitchen Tap Spares to the Industry and home owners and plumbers for over 30 years.

WHY ?

If you are repairing the Valve in your Tap, then your Tap is dripping from the Handle or the Tip of the Spout (where the aerator is fitted).

 • A Valve is made up of many individual parts and is usually down to an internal part having been damaged or worn over time.
 • Rarely, if ever, is it the O Rings on the outside. If it was the O Ring on the outside of your valve and you have sourced a replacement O Ring, it is most likely not a genuine o ring from the manufacturer of your tap. Any Tap manufacturer that we deal with for genuine spare parts does not supply separate O Rings for the valves.
 • Some older Taps, if they start to drip, require a different Valve as a replacement part.
 • If the reason why your Tap is dripping is due to the Valve, then by replacing the entire valve with a genuine replacement valve you will have solved your problem in one painless step. If you start with a compatible O Ring and your Tap continues to drip, you are no where near resolving the issue.

O Rings for the end of the Spout : We do supply these rubber O Rings separately from the Spout Part. These are unique to the Spout on your Tap (but the same Spout can be used in many different models). The easiest way to identify which O Ring Kit you require, if you do not know the model of your Tap, is to email us information.
