Replacing Franke Ascona Tap Valve

If you are replacing your Franke Ascona Tap Valve

then your Tap is dripping from either the end of the Spout (Aerator end) or from the Handle.
Here are image of Franke Ascona Tap and Franke Ascona Tap with U Spout (both take same valves) and please check and compare to your own in case you have a different Tap that could have different parts inside.

  1. The Hot and Cold Valve are not interchangeable as the Hot opens clockwise and the Cold opens anti-clockwise.
  2. If your Ascona Tap is dripping from the Spout and you do not know which Valve is at fault this Post here should assist you : How to tell which Valve needs replacing – Hot or Cold?
  3.  The Current Franke Ascona Valve information is a six sided valve SP3794 and can be removed without needing a special tool. A 14 size Hex Key will remove it which you can buy in any DIY store (or ideally borrow !). [See in picture the six sides on the nut.]

  4. You might have an Old Franke Ascona Tap that specifies the SP3308 (aka 3308R) which is not an issue so don’t worry. [See the flat sides on the nut in the picture.]

  5. Either Valve (we currently have both options in stock) will fit your Tap / Handle. So while they might look visually different in Nut design, both valves still work in your Ascona Tap.

Which Valve is in my Ascona Tap & Why do I need to know this ?

If you don’t have the original Installation Guide that came with your tap to tell you whether your own Ascona Tap has the earlier flat sided nut 3308R or the later six sided nut 3794R then we would recommend removing your Tap Handle to establish which Valve you have.
The value in knowing which version of the Valve you have in your Tap is for the removal as you might need the Removal Tool 4013R if you have the earlier 3308R valve with the flat sides on the nut.

  • Some customers have found the earlier flat sided valve 3308R difficult to remove and you can buy the Removal Tool 4013R to remove it  here.
  • If you have the later valve 3794R then a 14 size Hex Key will remove which you can source in a DIY store or borrow from someone.

How to remove the Ascona Tap Handle ?

      1. We recommend that you place a cloth or towel underneath to catch the screw as they are tiny and you don’t want to lose it.  But if you lose it you can of course buy one here.
      2. You will need a 2mm allen key (screw is located underneath the handle). Please don’t attempt to try to guess the size of your Allen Key because if you damage a grub screw you might not be able to remove it.Click here to buy the allen key 2mm for the Handle and 2.5mm for the grub screw in your spout. Click here for 2mm Allen Key only
      3. Turn the screw anticlockwise will loosen it.
      4. There is a small white handle insert (separate part) that covers the top of the valve.
