Due to the valve being exposed to air at the manufacturing plant (oxidation), you might notice that the brass is slightly blackened in places. These are brand new valves direct from the manufacturer and the ceramic disc and seal are perfect. The slight discolouration has absolutely no bearing on the workings of this valve which have been tried and tested here.

The Kitchen Tap Valve 3540R suits many leading UK Kitchen Taps. Later installation Guides might refer to the valve 3982R (this is the later version of same valve 3540R with red or blue seal)

Some additional helpful notes in removing this valve:
You will need a 2.5mm allen key to remove handle. When the tap handle and the plastic collar within has been removed only the splined end of the valve is accessible. The 17 mm hex end of the valve is visible but is just too far within the tap body to take an open-ended spanner or a ring spanner. It does not sit within a removable sleeve on this Franke Cresta tap. You will need a 17 mm socket or box spanner to change this cresta valve.
